Juxtaposition Cabernet Sauvignon, 2008

Juxtaposition 2008 wine bottle

The magic relationship of wine and food

Juxtaposition means relationship; side by side; combination- a perfect name for the food and wine experience. Gabrielle envisioned a signature wine to delight foodies- velvet in the mouth yet elegantly balanced. The blend of Cabernet Sauvignon & Syrah was it! Chefs have juxtaposed this wine with a broad range of dishes and whether meat, poultry or fish, the dish was better because of the wine & the wine better because of the dish.

75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Syrah

The Wine

The 2008 vintage was a bold vintage with intensity and full body- perfect for Juxtaposition. It had a dramatic growing season, with damaging vineyard buds and heat spikes during bloom in May and in August. It delivered a very small crop due to these extremes but had exceptional quality. The vintage produced wines that are very rich and full-bodied and well-balanced, with plenty of tannins for aging.

Tasting Notes

A silky food wine has firm acidity, a moderate alcohol level and the oak and approachable tannins are balanced. A bold Cabernet Sauvignon with deep notes of black current, brambles, tobacco and Syrah’s attributes of leather, bacon and spice.

The vineyards are located in Oak Knoll District.

Food Pairing

The blend of Cabernet Sauvignon goes with so many dishes, from meat to fowl to the sea. And it is great to just sip! It complements grilled salmon with chili aioli, BBQ chicken, mashed potatoes with roasted kale, wild boar, Thai flavored vegetarian dishes, holiday turkey or just by itself….
