Pietro Family Cellars

Field Blend 2013

A century of wine tradition in every glass

Field Blend Red Wine, California 2013

PIETRO FAMILY CELLARS produces this classic Old World style red wine of mixed red varietals grown together in a single vineyard, called a field blend. In 1906, Grandfather Pietro took cutting from neighboring vineyards to start his estate vineyard. The varietal history is lost to us, but we fondly remember this great drinking wine served with many family meals. To carry this tradition forward, we offer the Field Blend. As Pietro’s varietals are unknown to us, we will never disclose the varietals that create this wine. Fun!

Following the heritage that Pietro represents to our family, these grapes are grown in the great soils of the classic California growing regions of Napa Valley, Sonoma and Lake Country, plus a touch from the central Coast, resulting in a California designation.

The Wine

The vintage year of 2013 had a perfect growing season resulting in robust but elegant wine with a firm structure and soft tannins.

Tasting Notes

A juicy red blend with fresh red berry flavors of cassis, red cranberry accented with wild blackberry. A touch of earthiness and spice.

Vineyards

Pietro took vine cuttings from neighboring vineyards to start his winery. The result was a field blend of red varietals. We followed that tradition to create a complex red wine.
